Refueling in Daleville

June 13

I decided to spend the day refueling in Daleville, VA. Most of the day I have been off my feet planning the next few weeks on the trail. Another 100 miles and I will be through Mid-VA and into the last of the Virginias – Doah Virginia named for the Shenandoah Valley. It is the only state that is governed by a monarch – section hiker and friend, Princess Doah.

Yesterday, I had the adventure of hiking through Tinker Cliffs (see photo) in the fog and rain. The trail is demanding and tough, but I guess that is why very few people complete it. It is also beautiful and so rewarding when mountaintop is summited.

I look forward to the overlooks of Taylors Mt. and Harvey’s Knob tomorrow.
