September 5 – Maine is a Beautiful Beast

It was a beautiful day and we hiked through beautiful country, but it was a difficult trail filled with roots and rocks making progress slow. After climbing Old Blue Mt. we enjoyed the vistas from Bemis Mt. We ended the day at mile 1950.7 at a real nice campsite.

I have attached some pictures of today’s hike. It is hard for me to believe I am actually hiking in Maine. God is faithful.

  1. God is certainly faithful and that faithfulness has been apparent in all your posts! It is such a blessing that you have a companion on this leg of your journey! I continue to pray daily for your safety, strength, and good spirits, and especially now that God would give you the endurance needed to complete this amazing adventure!

    Your brother in Christ,
    Todd

    Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

    • Todd – thanks for the passage in Hebrews 12. The endurance required is connected to the ability of “looking to Jesus.” One of the song I sing on the trail is Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – I love the simple but powerful truth of focusing on The Lord of All.
